Introducing Our New Coaches

We are proud to welcome two new coaches to the Water World Swim family! Please join us in welcoming Coaches Rebecca and Jessica to the team. We are thrilled to have their skills, experience, and company.

Assistant Coach Jessica

jess150Coach Jessica is an accomplished swimmer and triathlete and is also presently majoring in International Political Science at UC Davis. There she also assistant coaches Introduction to Open Water Swimming, as well as participates in classes including Aquatic Boot Camp, Water Polo, and Aerobic Swimming. As well as completing dozens of hours coaching in the pool and bay,  she placed 3rd in her division in the Tri California Alcatraz Challenge, 2nd in her division in Sharkfest Lake Tahoe, 1st in her division in Sharkfest Golden Gate, and swam as an assistant in Water World Swim’s own Annual Golden Gate Bridge event in 2013. With Water World Swim alone, she has completed 35 training sessions in the Bay, and an Alcatraz clinic.

She is currently working toward being licensed by the American Swim Coaches Association with the support of Water World Swim, and training to be a Certified Open Water Swim Coach. We are looking forward to having her passion and talents on board!

Coach Rebecca

reb150Coach Rebecca began swimming at age 10 in Michigan, where she held records at state level. While on the Cousino High School Varsity Team, she lettered and held records in butterfly, freestyle, and relays. She went on to swim for the University of Alabama under Coach Don Gambril, who also coached Lynne Cox. Rebecca began her bay swimming when she joined the Embarcadero YMCA in 2010, later joining the Masters Team in 2011, before formally joining Water World Swim in February 2013.

Since then, Rebecca has made several Alcatraz crossings, swum Around the Rock, Alcatraz to Angel Island, and many others, including winning the notoriously challenging 10K Bridge to Bridge in her division. She is proud to have escorted younger swimmers on their first Alcatraz crossings throughout 2013 and is thrilled to continue as an open water coach. Along with Coach Rene, Rebecca will be heading the Sunday Swims starting January 19th until Coach Pedro returns from Chile.

Join us in welcoming these fabulous athletes!
