Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon 2011

Congratulations to all the participants of the Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon 2011!

Many of the swimmers commented on how calm the waters were that day. That is the smoothest we’ve seen it in a long time and really lucked out with the weather. We received great feedback from our swimmers who did the Water World Swim Alcatraz Clinics and our Alcatraz Triathlon Clinic series:

Randy Perkins: Did 5 crossing practice swims with WWS in preparation for 2011 Escape from Alcatraz.  On more than one occasion no one made it across without repositioning but we learned something new on each attempt.  From swimming in extreme choppy conditions for over an hour to fighting a back eddy of 2+ knots 200 yards off shore in 50 degree water, WWS prepared me for any condition on race day.  My first successful and fastest crossing came on June 5th thanks to Pedro, Rene, Jake, Ann, George and all the WWS coaches! Thank you!!! …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Ron Brown: Coach Pedro, I would like to thank you and your coaching staff for the great job in training me for the Escape. It paid off. I hit my mark straight into the middle of the beach. As you know water conditions were great. I really enjoyed the swim. I’m looking forward to seeing you periodicaly on the weekends to swim and for next years Escape …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

Gabe Paulson: Doing the swims and crossing with you, Jake and Pedro was very helpful.  I’ll be back and see if I can cut 5-10 min off my time for next year. The biking went the best – thanks Jake for doing the course a couple times. The run was the hardest, didn’t practice bricks, dropped to 12 min miles.  Next time! Thanks again! …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Marcin Marzek: I would like to thank all of you guys for support, good advices and Thursday swim! You are awesome! I made it! It took me 38 minutes. Swim was relaxed, without struggling, straight to the beach! You guys are doing incredible job advising participants of this race and You are such a great crew! Thanks again and hope to see you again!

Leica Carpo: Big hugs to Water World Swim for my best and longest successful swim ever!!

Leica had a challenging race, read her report here

Kathleen Burke: I would not have completed the swim without the amazing support, encouragement and coaching of all of you! Thank you Pedro, Rene, Jake, Joseph, Edna and George! I’m happy to report that you prepared me so well that I didn’t see you during the race which means I was on course! And Joseph, no leaky goggles. Finally!

Read her entire race report on her blog!

……………….arpo: Big ……………………………………………………………

Christine Bertram: The current was a rather funny thing… I thought the whole swim I was going in a straight line towards the shore!

Christine’s first sea swim and race report!
